Our Why

Team Planet’s ultimate aim is to solarize Malawi.  We envision all Malawians having access to an affordable, reliable sustainable zero emission power supply which does not depend on the vagaries of the national grid nor on environmentally damaging fossil fuels whether they live rurally or in towns and cities. The lack of reliable power is damaging to the national economy as businesses struggle to cope. We believe that by putting power in the hands of the people the country will prosper.

Our How

The first phase of our operation was to cater for the small holder farmer communities by manufacturing and retailing 15W Tier 1 solar panels at the price of a basic mobile phone.  This is a PICO solar supply that does not require batteries or a charge controller but which will charge mobile phones, power banks and our Lighting Africa approved bright, durable, affordable, re-chargeable lights.  A panel and a light can transform a family’s life.  As part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, blue chip companies have placed orders for our products for their bottom tier workforce, trusting as they do in the quality and the price.

Our Other How

While establishing the retail side of the PICO solar business we experienced the escalating problems of grid power outages at first hand.  We realised very quickly that we needed not to move away from the small-holder farmer but to become more inclusive of businesses and modern urban homes.  .

Although a relatively new company in the installation field, Team Planet has quickly acquired a stellar reputation.  The right design is unique to the purpose. With a team of MERA qualified experienced electricians we have an eclectic repertoire behind us here in Malawi.  We have installed borehole pumps on farms, solar panels, inverters and batteries in homes, businesses, lodges, boarding schools, libraries and most recently a milk cooling system for a dairy collective.

Our Commitment

One of the problems the solar industry faces in Malawi is the influx of inferior products, faulty installations for which Malawians and residents pay high prices. At Team Planet we put our customers and partners at the centre of our attention and treat them with trust, respect and integrity. We are committed to finding world class products, installing them to European standards for our customers at the best possible price.
